REVEALED: What they never told you about NYSC Orientation Camp (Photos)

Once you cross the camp gate, you would never be allowed to come out again until after the official 21 days. The camp duration is three weeks(21 days). Once you have been checked and admitted into camp, there is no exit. Nevertheless, no matter how things may seem to be, some people that will find their exit must surely find it, but through decamp or expulsion.

When you enter through the gate, you would see some uniformed men. The
screening starts right at the gate. Don't be afraid, just follow the orders.
  • Thorough search at the entrance gate: Securities would first asked for your call-up letter, after showing them, they will search your luggage thoroughly, to make sure you are not in possession with restricted items such as: gun, iron, knives, bombs etc.
  • Registration: Registration starts from the camp gate entrance, the first registration is usually for hostel accommodations and bedspace. The security men stationed at the gate would give you tag number. The tag number showed that you have been cleared at the gate by the securities. If you jump fence, you definitely wouldn't have this tag number. Do not misplace the tag as it would be used at a place where you would collect your foam/mattress and bed space number. After being cleared at gate, then proceed to the second registration point where you would collect bed space number and foam. Show them the tag given to you by the securities at the gate, and they would certainly give you a flat foam and bed space number.
The second stage of registrations is the main camp registration.
At this point, your documents speak for you, After documents verification, proceed to the second table, on the second table you would get your NYSC State Code, then after that proceed to the third table to get your meal ticket.
  • Your NYSC Kits: This registration point would give you NYSC Kits. But they would ask for your "Green card" and other documents. NYSC kits include the following: two pairs of white t-shirt, two pairs of white shorts, a pair of white tennis shoes, one khaki trouser, one khaki shirt, green belt, two pairs of socks, one face cap, one crested vest  and one juggle boot. These items can be stolen if not kept well. In order to avoid the ugly scenario, use a permanent marker to write bold your state code Number or your name on these items.
Your State Code number would at this point serve as your temporary I.D card until you recieve your permanent.
  • Bank account registration: At this phase you are required to open a new bank account. It is a must you open new bank account for your NYSC allowance.
  • Parade: Once you have gotten your NYSC kits, you automatically become "Otondo" or "White fowl". Put on your NYSC kites and run to the parade ground.
If you are lazy or wake-up late type, you have to adjust yourself as you would have to wake before 4:30am every morning for morning parade. So as to get prepared, a trumpet wakes you at 4:00am.
You are expected to report to the assemble at the parade ground by 4:30am. At 8:00am, parade dismissed and you go for your breakfast. You shall choose between eating food served NYSC carnteen and going to the mammy market for more balanced diet, but at your own cost.
  • After breakfast, you would be called out again for Lectures and Skill Acquisition Entrepreneurship Programmes (SAED).
After the programme, take your lunch, after taken your lunch, you run down to parade ground for another parade, after that, then, your dinner.
This continues everyday until you leave the orientation camp.
  • Allowance: Your first allowance would be paid when you are about to leave camp. For now, the allowance is N19,800.
  •  Place Of Primary Assignment (PPA): After the 21 days in camp, you would be posted to a PPA, where you would work, but most corpers would be posted to primary schools and secondary schools to teach.
